Two verses. Two truths. One identity.
If you've worn a Great Works piece, you've probably seen it — LOVED & SENT™.
It's on the wristband. It's on the tee. It's at the bottom of every product page. And if you've ever wondered what it actually means — not just as a brand tagline but as a theological statement — this is that explanation.
It Starts With a Question Jesus Was Asked
A religious leader named Nicodemus came to Jesus at night — privately, away from the crowds — and Jesus told him something that would become the most recognized verse in the Bible.
"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." — John 3:16
That's the LOVED half.
But here's what gets missed in how we usually quote that verse: it's not just a statement about salvation. It's a statement about the nature of love itself. Real love moves. Real love gives. Real love sends.
God didn't love the world from a distance. He loved it and then He acted on that love — He sent His Son into it. The love and the sending are inseparable. You cannot fully understand one without the other.
Then Jesus Gave His Last Instructions
After the resurrection, before the ascension, Jesus gathered His disciples and gave them what we now call the Great Commission.
"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." — Matthew 28:19
That's the SENT half.
Notice He didn't say "stay." He didn't say "wait until you feel ready." He said go. Into all nations — which means into every neighborhood, every workplace, every event, every room you walk into as a follower of Jesus. The commission isn't just for missionaries. It's for everyone who bears the name.
Why These Two Verses Together
Most people live on one side or the other.
Some people live deeply in the LOVED — they know their identity in Christ, they're rooted in grace, they understand who they are to the Father. But they never move. The love stays internal. It doesn't produce anything.
Others live almost entirely in the SENT — they're busy, they're active, they're doing things for the Kingdom. But they're running on empty because they've lost touch with the foundation. The sending has become striving.
LOVED & SENT™ is the both/and.
You were loved before you were useful. That's the foundation — unchangeable, unconditional, not based on your output. And from that place of being fully loved, you are sent. Not because you have to earn something. Because love always moves outward.
What It Means to Wear It
When you put on a LOVED & SENT piece, you're not just wearing a brand. You're making a declaration about your identity.
You are someone who knows they are loved — not by performance, not by achievement, but by the God who sent His Son. And you are someone who takes the commission seriously — who shows up in the world as a representative of that Kingdom, in whatever context you find yourself.
The wristband on your wrist. The tee on your back. The hoodie you reach for every morning. They're reminders. Physical, tangible reminders of who you are and who sent you.
That's why we put it on everything.
The Line That Started It All
Great Works Clothing exists because of John 14:12 — Jesus' declaration that those who believe will do even greater things than He did. But LOVED & SENT™ is the identity that makes those greater works possible.
You can't do great works from a place of striving and insecurity. You can only do them from a place of knowing you are fully loved and specifically sent.
That's the theology. That's the brand. That's what we build gear for.
