SUBSTANCE OVER SPEED
Our recent experience setting up at the Market by the Sea event was a masterclass in trusting God's timing. The day started out entirely overcast, and for the vast majority of the event, the retail traffic felt slow and heavy.
In the natural, it would have been incredibly easy to get discouraged. But as the physical environment changed, the spiritual environment broke wide open.
The After-Hours Shift
In the final 20 minutes of the event, we turned on some worship music across the booth layout. What happened next defies normal retail strategy: after the event was officially over and other vendors were packing up, a sudden wave of customers arrived at our tent. We ended up welcoming more customers and processing more transactions after the close of the event than we did during the entire overcast day.
We walked away entirely blessed financially. But as we drove home, the revenue wasn't what occupied our minds.
A New Way of Measuring Success
During that slow, overcast day, we made three deep, intentional spiritual connections with people who stepped into our space.
Those three conversations taught us a massive operational lesson. Yes, we are a business - but we are also a ministry. Moving forward, we are officially implementing a new internal standard: we are going to actively track our spiritual connections right alongside our daily revenue metrics.
Because at the end of the day, an automated order notification is great, but a soul encouraged, a prayer answered, or a connection made for the Kingdom of God is what lasts forever. We don’t just want to build brand awareness; we want to build an active, conversational community anchor.
